Stab In The Art

Not too long ago, I noticed that my ring wouldn’t come off. I used to take it off occasionally to check that I could get it off, but over the last couple of months I’d forgotten, and my finger had swollen, until i tried, and discovered that it wasn’t going to budge.

I tried soap, moisturiser, ice and even Windex. Finally, we had to get it cut off. The ring, not my Finger.

I love the ring, it’s always been my favourite. But considering my finger’s future, it had to be done.

Before and After

This is my finger before, and after. There’s a pic of my ring, and the tool they used to get it off, which was cool.

My finger still has a tan line a week later…

As for General annoyance of the day. People who don’t sit on empty seats at the bus stop, but clamber as though they’re desperate for a seat to get on the bus. Now, I need the seat and anyone who has a problem with that can call my Physio or any one of my Doctors, but I’m also not a pushy person, so I do sit at the bus stop, meaning people standing think that because they’re in line, they have right of way over disabled people. I’m never bold enough to say anything, but occasionally when I get strange looks for sitting in a disabled area, and not getting up for middle aged people, I tend to take longer putting my ticket away a bit slower, showing off my concession card. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t sit in the disabled section on busses with a bunch of seniors on their way to weekly Bingo, but I prioritise myself on the situation, such as age, tiredness, how long they’ve been at the bus stop, stress and my own pain. Not to mention if they annoy me at the bus stop, I make it a point to step in front of them. I was thinking that everyone should be assigned a number, 1 being the highest priority, all the way down to 10, and if your number is say a 5 over a 6, you get the seat. I’d say I’m a 4 or 5. I need to sit. My back kills if I have to stand on a bus, and I can see people looking at me, and my looks of pain on the edge of tears. But no one stands. They don’t see my Disability. They don’t Understand.

{June 25, 2010}   Mending, War and Politics

I’m not usually one to care or even take notice of Politics, and usually vote for whoever looks like a nice person. But I’m really quite annoyied about this thing with Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard. Thats all imma say about that.

On to War…. For CYBERTRON!!!!!!shiftone!!!! It’s good. I’m even taking time out of my Final Fantsy to play it. OMG! I love being a Scientist, because you transform into a jet, and go really fast, it’s so fun. 🙂

Next would be mending. I was out getting my War For Cybertron the other day, when I noticed a break in the wool of my uber awesome Rikku Scarf that I made. 😦 I few stitches were dropped, and I’m not sure how I’m going to mend it yet. It’s in the orange bit (of course, Orange sucks, and orange straws always have holes in them, so it was inevitable.)

{May 7, 2010}   3-Year Old Picasso

What the hell!!?

I was watching the tv the other night, when the current affair show declares that they have found a girl that is able to make art, as good as Pablo Picasso, himself! Wow, she must be good. They told us that her parents have sold her works for up to $28,000 AUD. They then proceeded to show this 3 year old girl, pouring paint from the tubes on to canvases and sticking pom poms to it… -_-

I was Furious! In what way does that even relate to Picasso’s Life time of working, his education at the Academy of Arts in Madrid and creating a revolutionary art movement of cubism?!? Its an insult to Pablo and all artists, I think.

A lot of people think that the art of Picasso could have been done by a three year old, but, like Stienman in Bioshock, he spent many years following the crowd, learning how to draw before finding a way that projects his feelings best.

{March 23, 2010}   The Knitted cake is a lie!!!

I mean seriously… Firstly who would want to knit a cake in the first place? A cake that doesn’t give you sugar rush just isn’t worth it.

And where did they come from all of a sudden? about two weeks ago all these patterns for knitted cupcakes have been turning up… even in magazines I already own!!!

Weird I tells ya….Weird.

{March 17, 2010}   Art Shops

Gah. It was pay day, so I decided I’d try buying something from an art shop, so that it might kick start some arty urges. So I go to this Art shop near where we were shopping. I’ve been to this shop plenty of times before, but always forget how sucky it is until I don’t go for a while, mind you it does have a massive range of cheap beads.

The main problem you face when you walk in, other than being attacked by beaded things dangling from the ceiling, is claustrophobia. Now I’m no expert on sizes, but I’d say that this shop is about 9 meters square. Within that space, it has four aisles full of almost any art implement you could think of, but all of it is just junked together, not only on shelves but on the floor, too, Making it next to impossible to find without asking. Which you don’t even bother.

The people behind the desk of that place are so rude and unhelpful, they are worse that teenagers being made to work for no money. And forget it if there is two people in the shop at the same time! Last thing I’m going to mention is the prices. No wonder they have so much stock! When someone actually buys something they’d have enough money to replace it three times over. We once asked the attendant why they didn’t move to a bigger store, and she said that they couldn’t be bothered moving all the stock, so we actually offered to help.

I brought a piece of paper with a two geisha on it for $2.55 and am less than inspired.
